Entry # 8 Wood shop Gone Wrong
For my older brothers wedding me and my dad wanted to make a cedar chest for a marriage gift. When we started we had no idea of how much of a pain it was going to be. when we got all the wood together and all the wood cut to size we started to assemble the chest. We made the decision to only use wood glue so that the chest wouldn't have any holes in it from the nail gun and that's where we ran into our first problem. Shortly after we put the box together it started to fall apart because the glue hadn't fully set yet. The solution to the problem? More clamps then I thought one person could own. By the time the dust settled we probably had 30 clamps holding it together. At first it was a huge pain but me and my dad laughed till we cried. So with the clamps on there we let it set for the night. The next day we didn't know what to expect when we pulled it out and took the clamps off but luckily it stayed together. to finish off the chest we added the lid and as a finishing touch we beat the box with a hammer to give it a slightly more rustic look.
